Tollywood performing Actress Payel Chakraborty was discovered dead in an inn room here on Wednesday evening.

As per nearby media reports, the on-screen character had registered with the lodging in the city's Church Road region on Tuesday.

The reason for her demise is as yet obscure and the neighborhood police is exploring the issue. In the interim, her relatives have achieved Siliguri District Hospital to gather her body.

Actress Payel Chakraborty's dad Prabir Guha has expressed that she was experiencing mental pressure.

The hotel authorities claim that the actress had a shoot scheduled on Wednesday morning, for which she was to leave for Gangtok. However, the actress did not leave her room the next day, which was locked from inside ever since she arrived at the hotel.

After repeated knocks on Actress Payel Chakraborty's room, the actress did not reply. That is when the authorities decided to call the police. On their arrival, the police found her body and sent it for a post-mortem.

Payel Chakraborty was to play a pivotal role in the upcoming drama Kelo, directed by Shankar Roy. She had also briefly featured in the 2017 drama Cockpit.

The actress was also a frequent presence in the Bengali serials, which includes noted names like Ek masher Sahitya, Chokher Tara Tui and Goenda Ginni.

The report adds that Charaborty had recently undergone a divorce and is survived by her parents and a son. She had also been under considerable mental duress in the recent past. Bengali Actress Payel Chakraborty, who has been a part of Bengali TV and film industry was found dead in her hotel room in Siliguri on August 5, Wednesday.

According to reports, hotel staff informed the police after there was no response from her side after repeated knocks on her door. The police found her body under mysterious circumstances. Her body was sent for autopsy but initial investigation suggests suicide.

According to reports, after the body was recovered, Siliguri police contacted the actress' family based in Kolkata. Payel had checked into the Siliguri hotel located at Church Road on Tuesday and was supposed to leave for Gangtok on Wednesday. According to reports, the 36-year-old actress had got divorced recently and was depressed. She is made due by her folks and a child.
